beryl / derecho

homebuyer

assistance program

Program Overview

Harris County’s Single-Family Housing Development Program (SFHDP) is committed to creating and preserving affordable housing and fostering a suitable living environment for low- and moderate-income residents of Harris County. The SFHDP supports this mission by increasing the supply of safe, decent, and affordable housing for households that might otherwise be unable to achieve homeownership or maintain stable housing following a disaster.

As part of SFHDP, the Hurricane Beryl/Storm Derecho program aims to bridge the gap between a homebuyer’s mortgage lender approved loan amount and the home’s sales price. Assistance of up to 45% can be used as a price reduction, loan down payment and closing costs (which may cover mortgage rate buy downs).
